Martian Ball is an interesting game that requires you to keep the ball in the air as long as possible by zapping it with a contraption called a bouncy. Even though the object of this game is very simple, like many of the games featured on uVme.com, it’s a game of skill that you have to develop by playing often.

To start the game off, you have to hit the ball and send it flying. You have control over how hard you want to hit the ball, so make sure you have enough force behind it so the ball will travel far before landing. Using the bouncy, your goal is to keep the ball in the air while it travels.

Common Strategies

Staying underneath the ball at all times is one strategy that you can use to help the ball travel. The further it travels, the more points you can earn. Even though this game is timed, there is little you can do to increase the speed of the ball besides ensure that it doesn’t touch the ground.

Struggling to keep up with the ball or anticipating where it will land may backfire on you in the long run. As you play, you will notice that the ball usually lands in the same place each time. Positioning the bouncy under the ball increases your chances of hitting it when it reaches the ground.

Will Wright. For those who don’t know him… he’s that guy who created a ton of titles with the word “Sim” in it. Most notably, “The Sims” which managed to change the way gamers looked at god games. Well, Mr. Wright is back, and this time he’s combining his love of simulations, an out-of-this-world creation tool, and a handful of different genres to create a game worthy of his reputation. What emerged from this technological primordial soup can be described simply, in a single word… “Spore.”

”Spore” is, at its core, a god game. You’ll be guiding your species through its existence as you attempt to become a shining example of Darwin’s motto, “Survival of the Fittest.” How you perform this task is where this game gets its charm.

You begin life as a tiny cell, swimming about, looking for sustenance in either meat or vegetable products using controls that resemble more “Pac-Man” than state-of-the-art PC technology. As you eat in your liquid habitat, you’ll notice that you’re gaining DNA. These building blocks of life work like money when it comes time to evolve your critter into something a bit more powerful than a single-celled, single-eyed blob. Evolve enough and you’ll spring from the water, sprout legs, and take the adventure to the land.

In the creature stage you’ll wander the countryside in search of food, a mate and a warm nest to call your own. Much like the cell stage, you’ll gain DNA to evolve while avoiding the larger, more aggressive beasties that share your living space. When fighting isn’t an option, you can always turn on the charm and attempt to become friends with the ne’re-do-wells that could easily squish you. As you reach various evolutionary stages, you’ll notice that your once pea-sized brain is growing right along with you. Get enough smarts and you’ll make a fire, build a hut and begin the tribe stage.

Tribal life resembles more of a real-time strategy than the more action oriented environment of the past. You’ll be responsible for gathering food and building structures, all in an effort to become the best village on the block. Creating new buildings is a must as they allow you to develop and use new weaponry and items to either destroy or woo your opponents.

Much like every civilization from our past, despite how archaic they may be, technology always improves and society becomes much more organized as time progresses. This leads us to our final two stages, civilization and space. It’s hard to imagine that our tiny, one-celled spec is now part of a fully-functioning city where you’ll now be able to convert and conquer other species in order to rule the globe. Once your world conquest is complete and your technology is at a peak, build a flying saucer, explore other planets, and test your species’ might against the galaxy.

When all’s said and done, “Spore” brings god game to a whole new level. With its unbelievably deep design tools, multiple genre gameplay, and hours upon hours of family-friendly fun, Will Wright has truly proven himself worthy of his legendary status.

Classic Game Room HD – DEAD SPACE review Part 1 Xbox 360

Part 1 of 2 in HIGH DEFINITION. Classic Game Room reviews DEAD SPACE for the Xbox 360 video game console. This Dead Space review shows gameplay and footage from this amazing game in HD High Definition game play video. Wow! It’s like they made this game for Classic Game Room! It may not have huge Atari sized pixels or ninjas, but what it does have is awesome science fiction ambience, sound design and story telling! You play as Isaac and crawl through a space ship infested with horrible aliens or mutated people, all of whom are trying to decapitate you and rip your limbs from your torso. Gameplay is solid, fast and intense. The video game reminds CGR of Alien, Event Horizon and the video games Bioshock, Resistance and Fallout 3. All good things. Dead Space is somewhat of a horror style 3rd person shooter (should have a FPS first person shooter option) set in space and featuring an awesome Sci-fi movie inspired plot. Hours of boring cutscenes are abandoned in favor of in-game storytelling through some really nice stylized screens and audio logs. There are lots of weapons including cutters and flamethrowers, each gun has 2 different modes of fire. Dead Space is sure to please those looking for a top-notch A-list shooter on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 PS3 or PC. We use the 360 version of the game for this review but we’d imaging, from what we’ve seen, that the PS3 Dead Space gameplay and footage is very similar if not identical. The game is awesome.
